Its characteristics are the strips or 'dougies' on the back side which remain wider (approximately 3 centimetres) and artfully become grooved. This is why it is named the Carved Lute.

More time is needed than with a simple lute and the result in its design and sound is superior. The Carved Lute was created by Mr. Stefanakis who is the owner of the established patent.
